Thoughts for the our generation

I was just reading newspaper as usual this morning, when I came to the 'World News' part, and I was drawn towards this article about a sex video clip circulating online in singapore, involving college students. It must be really terrible for the girl in the video clip cause there goes her image! Imagine what her parents and family would feel when they go out in public? What with people whispering behind their backs and all.. it is really sad...

Then, since they had the website written on the newspaper, I was curious, and visited the blog. What I found ( there was no video to download..) was that some people are really shallow minded in their thoughts.. There was an entry on premarital sex, and i felt really inclined to comment *note: I don't usually give out comments on blogs* on the entry.. There were two: One by a guest blogger, and another by the owner him/herself. The guest blogger agreed generally that premarital sex was bad, however, IF you can't help yourself, use condoms *ironic*. The owner however, differed and said that cohabitation and premarital sex is okay, "as long as you really LOVE the person".

This is not uncommon or shocking for us. So what? Many people think like that nowadays. To back up their stand on the green light, they say all kinds of stuff like you should have practice before the real marriage, and get to know the person well first before committing to marriage. What a load of rubbish.. EXCUSES, that's what it all is, for doing something that is obviously morally WRONG!

Another thing I discovered was that people are superbly ignorant on the myth that condoms can prevent AIDS and STD's 100%. What kind of super condom is that? Ugh... is sex education really sticking in their minds? Or are they keeping the wrong ideas in? It really saddened me that people don't value their bodies anymore. They think that since no one is going to uphold chastity, why should they? If there is a probability of their future spouses being 97% not virgin, then why should they keep themselves then?

What a vicious cycle we have created. Here are some things that i found worth quoting:

^A girl can say, “Oh, he loves me, he’s THE ONE.” But who can ever be sure of the future? Girls have sex for love. Guys love for sex. It’s a harsh and cruel but horrendously true fact. If one day she denies him of sex, I’m sure his stand on loving her will change. But of course, she won’t, she will have sex just to keep that guy. This is what keeps a relationship healthy and alive - sex.^

^Females over hundreds and thousands of years have fought for the equality in sexes but until now, genders differences are still seen. A woman who goes around having sex is loose and promiscuous, while a guy who goes around having sex is called a stud, a slang meaning a man regarded as virile and sexually active and also attractive.^

So, that is it? A relationship fails when there is a problem with sex? What a disappointing revelation this will be for stroke patients, and other debiliated patients..WOE to those who become wheel chair bounded or bed-ridden! Guess their spouses shold leave them to die then cause they can't give them the core of their relationship: sex! I mean, the last 30 years of marriage, love and trust should be thrown down the well of hopelessness cause SEX is not in the picture anymore. Whatever happened to "when DEATH do us part"? Maybe it should be changed to "when sickness do us part"...

There is NO wonder why divorce rates are sky-rocketing. Wrong concept, wrong thinking, wrong expectations and a whole cycle of betrayal, hurt and pain. Someone said that a relationship "is 50% sex and 50% the rest". Gosh.. if that were so, we're no better than animals I suppose.

What about the stud concept? How many of us actually think that guys like that are to die for? These 'sex-masters' are probably the frontline causes of the wide spreading of STD's and HIV, and when they get it, they come crawling to hospitals for treatment. How ironic. If I ever find a cure for HIV, it would be for the innocent people out there who got it through blood transfusions, and children who were raped on the myth that having sex with a virgin can cure AIDS.

I also discovered that people have the WRONG concept about what the bible says about sex. Sigh, if only they'd take some biblical studies on the issue. Maybe that's what this generation needs. They either have the wrong concept or ignore it because if everyone is doing it, why shouldn't they? Unfortunately, sex is still a taboo topic in this society, so it's more or less swept under the carpet, even in churches. But the whole issue is just glaring at us in our faces! Why tell people to be abstinent when on the other hand, tell them that if they can't help themselves, use CONDOMS? It's contradictory to what we believe in, our culture and our moral values!

My conclusion for the day is that people who disregard their bodies like that are really people who need the Lord. It made me realize how loudly God is yelling in our faces, and we are still deaf to His voice. He is calling us to stand apart from this world, for we are not of this world.

"Everything is permissible for me"- but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"- but I will not be mastered by anything. "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"- but God will destroy them both. The body is NOT meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. - 1 Corinthians 6: 12-13

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.- 1 Corinthians 6: 18-20

Put to death, therefore, what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.- Colossians 3:5

It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honourable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.- 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7

Which stand will YOU take?
